Newcastle United chairman has insisted that Michael Owen is staying at his club. The England international only joined the club last summer but reports have suggested he wants to leave. “Michael’s here next season,” said the chairman. “We paid a club record fee for him and he was brought here as a long-term investment to score goals. It was a disappointing season for him. But I’m not writing Michael Owen off — he’s a huge part of this Newcastle team. Michael has spent a large part of the season out injured but he’ll certainly be playing a big part in Newcastle’s future.”

David Beckham has insisted he is happy with Real Madrid. The press have repeatedly linked him with a move back to England after winning only one trophy in three seasons with the Spanish giants(巨头). However, in a TV documentary(纪录片) “David Beckham: A Footballer’s Story”, Beckham has insisted that the only teams he would want to play for are Real and former club Manchester United. “There are other great clubs in England of course, there’s Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool,” he explained. “[But] the only club I would’ve ever have gone to apart from Manchester United was here. At the end of my career, I want to be known as a player that’s played at a top level, for the best teams.”
